I'm going into 2nd year in September, and judging by this page: http://www.computing.dcu.ie/current/ca2/secondyear.html, I'm guessing we'll have to make the choice between Information systems and Software engineering when we register?

What are the main differences between the two? I can't find a module list for second year IS, only third and fourth year.

I might be wrong but I thought this was done away with when they split the course into CA and EC.

Yeah, there are no longer any stream choices for CA the course is still being changed a bit I believe, but your best bet would be to look towards the CASE modules.

Just finished 2nd year, and we had no optional modules this year.

IS is the best choice there is. The SE people like to sit in their ivory towers and think they're better than the rest of us. I'd like to see them run a business.
