Hi Lads, just wondering what do ye think of this netbook? I'm looking for a decent netbook for travelling and was looking at the Samsung N220 which is 399 euro in PC World, but this Medion has the same specs and a newer Atom (the N455) and a 3 year warranty and costs 100 less! What do ye reckon? I had a Medion PC before and was happy enough with it and the warranty process.

    New – Intel® Atom™ processor N455 (1.66 GHz).

The Intel® Atom™ processor was designed especially for mobile devices. This practical netbook is the perfect companion for today’s mobile lifestyle.
    • Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 based on PCI-Express technology
    • 10'' widescreen LED backlight display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels – brilliant film enjoyment thanks to picture perfect images and rich colour reproduction
    • 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM memory
    • 250 GB S-ATA hard disk for more than 50,000 music tracks or photos3
    • Integrated Bluetooth® 2.1
    • MEDION® Solid Keyboard
Separately mounted keys ensure improved stability and enhanced writing comfort
    • Integrated sound system with 2 speakers
    • Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11n-standard technology with up to 300 Mbit/s., 802.11b/g compatible1
    • Network controller Ethernet LAN (10/100 MBit/s.)
    • 4-in-1 multi-format memory card reader3
    • Comprehensive software package with original Windows® 7 Starter Edition (OEM versions)
      …and much more
    • Weight of Netbook: 1.2kg
... there's a bit more detail here. Thanks!

I know netbooks don't normally have dvd drives, I suppose this doesn't have one?

No it doesn't, but conveniently ALDI are also selling USB DVD burners on the same day! What a coincidence!

Any idea if it has an inbuilt mic? I would mostly want it for Skype and carrying a microphone around is awkward.

Will it be possible to downgrade to XP or upgrade to 7 Ultimate on this netbook?

I bought one, and im quite happy with it, bar a few minor issues.

windows 7 starter is muck, it leaves out a lot of features, cant even change the backround wallpaper on desktop, minor issue, but annoying.

as you said, theres no disc drive, but i have all my music on pc at home, and have home sharing set up, so i have all my movies & music at the touch of a button, without using up any of my memory on netbook.

The screen resolution isnt great, its good for general online use, but when i try to down load google earth, its saying theyd reccommend a higher res, (its already at its highest)

same as anything really, you get what you paid for, its a greast little machine for basic use, internet itunes, etc.

i know it was already asked, but would there be any issues if i was to downgrade to XP? as far as im concerned, XP was the best PC OS so far. this thing has 250GB and 1GB ram, im sure it could run XP?

also, it has a thing called readyboost, which can use external memory, such as USB stick or SD card as RAM. great little extra, which i had never seen before, not available on XP though!!
