Anyone managed to get an online quote for insuarance from the AA?

Just tried getting an online quote for AA insurance, and it was a nightmare. In the space of 2 pages of forms I was met with the following:
    • Date defaults to 1910 if entered incorrectly
    • Can't enter a correct home address: 10a not allowed because it's not numeric and won't accept 2 words for street name, requires 3 ... wtf???
    • No option for not having a spouse, so forced to lie about non-existent wife not having a car
    • Must have a job and an employer - no option for self employed, unemployed, or living a life of leisure on Daddy's money
    • Doesn't have an i20 in the list of Hyundai cars (i10 and i30 yes, but i20, no)
    • Won't recognise a Hyundai after it's selected so can't get past page 2 to see a price for fake i30 which I'm pretending to own
All told - easily the worst online insurance experience I've come across. A complete travesty of simple, basic web development.

I never bother with online quotes, you can't negotiate with a computer. Call them instead.:)

Agreed. Useful to get a ballpark figure for what they might charge (or in my case to gauge whether they will cover my car at all) but in the end youre better off speaking to someone on the end of the phone. From my experience at the end of the conversation youll almost always come away with a cheaper quote than the online system was offering.

AA are a looney crowd, got a high quote off them years back that I didn't take them up on. Last year I got a letter from them saying they would beat my next renewal. Got a looney quote off them (€150 ish more than most other places). They claimed that their NCB protection was likely to be better than what I had, I didn't know nor care but that's how they rationalised their looney price, they said their product was better. I then asked did they include breakdown, NO, but they would sell me that too. FFS :D

I found them a bit strange too - apparently not one of the ins cos they do business with offers open driving.
