Give the rest of us some hope.

If you've got a job recently can you let the rest of us know was it through an agency and what sector?

I'm finding it very hard myself (IT Manager/Network Admin with 12 years private/public sector experience).

Dealing with the agencies is really getting me down. Oh sure, they're all over you when you first apply if they think they can place you, but if their client says no, that'll be the last you hear from them in most cases (in my experience).

I've had several now where they were "very optimistic" about my chances, but then not even gotten to the interview stage.

They also don't seem to communicate internally as I've dealt with several people in the one agency about different jobs, and each time I've had to go through the whole story again - is it too much to expect them to actually USE these vast libraries of CVs and people they're dealing with every day?

    Oh well...

I just accepted a job (Got 3 offers), two of which were from Linked in the other was through a recruiter. I work as a Java developer.
I know a lot of people who have moved recently mostly in IT, but 1 in marketing and a few in accountancy. Things are defiantly picking up

Started today. Arrived back in Ireland 3 weeks ago today. Its a fairly junior role in IT support, but its a job and a foot in the door at an excellent company.

Yes, through a direct application, with a bank. (surprising I know!)

I found the jobisjob.ie email alerts good because they have the jobs from across all the major job websites. Good luck!

Yes, 4 months looking and finally got my perfect job last month. In finance. I thought I was never going to get something and then it changed in a very short period. Best of luck.

i left my Ph.D. in the second week of May, after 5 days I got a contract in a place until last Friday crunching numbers, in the meantime was interviewing the last 4 weeks for a particular permanent job and got offered that last night. Now I can actually enjoy being unemployed until the end of the month.

Starting in Dublin on a 2 day per week contract. Not ideal but I need to make the money! :)

Got it through a former manager.

IT industry as a programmer. 13 year experience and I am back to commuting 500km.. nice :)

I am gonna chance this but if anyone knows anywhere looking for a programmer for a day/2/3 per week I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks :)

I changed job a few weeks ago. Moved from one bank to another. Found the job on irishjobs.ie. Was also offered a job with Facebook, which I turned down for the other. It was advertised on their website directly.

I got offered 3 jobs in 3 weeks after waiting about 5 months! One through an agency and the other 2 direct with the company. Starting on the 26th and a job I really wanted and was holding out for.. really looking forward to it.

Not really recent but I thought I'd post it anyway for any graduates reading. I got a job about one year ago in a pharmaceutical services company, they're still hiring periodically for graduates and other roles too.

Got it direct from the company but with some help from a mate who was already there.

Seems to be picking up a bit. I work in a section of a bank and 3 new people started Monday to add to 3 who joined last month. I hear that there is at least another 2 starters next week. Before that there was noboby new from Jan-June.
