He would be good, shame MGM are in such financial strife that we may not see another bond movie anytime soon. Same goes for The Hobbit movies :(

He's been cast as Mad Max though, should be interesting.

Possibly, but to be honest maybe it's time to let James Bond die. Bar Goldeneye & Casino Royale, pretty much all the Bond movies since the early 80s have been utter rubbish.

I though Quantum of Solace worked quite well if watched back to back with Casino Royale.

and Licence to Kill, which was doing the "serious, gritty Bond" that everyone seemed to think was a revelation in CR nearly 20 years earlier..

wouldn't be a bad choice in my opinion but still wana see a other outing from the brilliant Daniel Craig.

if i had to decide to pick the next bond it would be Micheal Fassbender he would bring the wit and charm back to the series and also still put in a dark serious performance aswell

What was getting me excited about the next one was Sam Mendes was supposed to direct it and Sam Morgan who wrote Frost/Nixon was supposed to be writing it.

After seeing him in The Take I only see a thug when I look at him. His own fault cause he was so good in it :p Couldn't have him as Bond. I actually like Daniel Craig.

Have Daniel Craig finish his contract out with another film to tie up the trilogy and show who Quantum are and then hire Hardy.

I've only seen him in a couple of things including the ITV production of Wuthering Heights, but he's a very strong and capable actor, great at adapting to roles. I could see him as a Bond, whenever we'll see a Bond again.

i know this is somewhat of a dead thread but i thought this news was very relevant http://www.galatta.com/english/news/tom-hardy-wants-to-play-james-bond/57411/

well that's that then he defiantly will take up the mantel after Craig

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Hardy would make a good Bond, or Michael Fassbender

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭spankmaster2000

I dunno; maybe I just haven't seen him in enough films to make a judgement, but he doesn't seem to have much charisma, does he?
For a James Bond role I mean...

He seems a bit too obvious for my liking. Plus; he's Mad Max now; so he's probably busy for the next few years anyway!

yes but Craig reportedly signed up for 5 more films so plenty of time to do the mad max franchise then join bond. its either him or fassebender thats for sure as to be the next bond

No, please no. Why cant they just let Bond go? Why would Tom Hardy want to play Bond after playing Bane and Mad Max?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 836 ✭✭✭fruvai

It would be an awful waste of talent

I couldn't picture Hardy doing it after Craig.

If Craig is there for 5 more films (7 or 8 years maybe?) then Fassbender / Hardy will both be in their early 40's by then.
I can't imagine either being cast as JB. I'd say the producers would look for the next "fresh face" to plug the role at that stage.

5 more Bond films with Craig....Wearing.

    How about Henry Cavil...henry-cavill-state-supreme-courthouse-13.jpg&w=871&h=1222&ei=gohrT6TyHcPChAeZhoDCBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=429&vpy=115&dur=80&hovh=266&hovw=189&tx=102&ty=132&sig=118444315321522249508&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=95&start=0&ndsp=23&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0

In fairness, they don't have to do as many films as their contracts state.
Timothy Dalton was contracted for three.

It could well be Hardy (if more bond films are ever made).
However my money is on the Fassbender

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,007 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

After seeing him in This Means War he shouldnt wear suits or tuxedos :p cant pull it off imo

Henry Cavill or Luke Evans would be my choices

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 865 ✭✭✭FlashD

Well if Craig has signed on for 5 more, then the next Bond won't be for another 9-10 years which rules out Owen.

I think it will be someone we don't know about yet, possibly working in TV and has yet to get their big break in the film industry.

Hardy and Fassbender are too high profile at this stage to do Bond. It's always a lesser known actor. They know they can put a lesser known actor in there and pay him less because its Bond, people will go regardless.

ah now i think everyone knows that this means war was a turkey  he could pull a suit of fine in inception.

i use to always think that the james McAvoy could of had a shot if he was bulkier

Not really my idea of Bond, I'd like them to move away from the Craig stlye of having him a bruiser type. I like Bond to be a suave assh*le in a suit who will only get into a fight as a last resort. Fassbender would be amazing. Chietel Ejiofor would be a good shout for me as well. But I think both are very very unlikely.

I fear you may be right, but putting young actors in the role of Bond is stupid in my opinion.

Owen's disintegrating career is enough to rule him out right now. Plus, he's older than Craig and like FlashD said, will be even older by the time Craig finishes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 829 ✭✭✭OldeCinemaSoz

After The Neeson took Paris apart in the best action film
in recent years, more's the pity he's touted for the possible rubbish
    sequel from the COLOMBIANA clown.

    Instead of the next Bond.

    :(

I always thought that too, but a poster on another thread pointed out that he was older than Craig so yeah, I reckon he lost his chance. I think he would have made a great Bond in a 'Timothy Dalton' style.

I'd love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the next Bond. It'd be like moving back towards the classy bonds like Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery. Maybe then they'd bring back the invisible car!

I'm as big a JGL fan as anyone, but to have him as James Bond? Really?

James Bond should not look like a 12 year old who wears skinny jeans and non-prescription glasses.

I honestly dont think he has the type of onscreen presence required , and hes American , wont bond always be played by a English actor ?

I don't care who plays him, as long as they bring back the friggin invisible or underwater car.

Not all English actors Connery was Scottish, Lazenby was from Australia, Moore was English, Dalton was Welsh, Brosnan was Irish and Craig was English.

the invisible car was the death knell of the franchise until Casino Royale came along. Its a pity Brosnans movies got progressively worse as it would have been good to see him end his run on a decent movie, not one of the worst ones. and its a pity as the opening 20 minutes or so of Die Another Day are superb, it just dies a death once Richie Rich and his Power Ranger suit arrive.

Here's an idea, though it would never happen realistically. Instead of continually keeping Bond contemporary, and turning him into some quasi-immortal character (which I believe ultimately makes him even more archaic than he already is), why not reboot the setting back to its original 1960s one? Mad Men and other shows have pushed that era back into the public consciousness & as a setting it has more potential for epic thrills than our modern era of private militaries & (relative) global stability. I wouldn't suggest remaking the classic Connery Bonds, but I'd be far more excited about some adventures in the 'golden age' of spying, than the direction the films are being taken now.

For years I've wanted this. It's the only thing that really makes sense as Bond belongs in the Cold War. And they could have so much fun with some retro gadgets. The reason we probably won't see it is how would they get in all the product placement?

Ya suppose your right but it would be a massive jump still to an American bond and i cant see that happening since Bond works for british intel , you would need a relatively unknown American whos spot on with the Accent , that could be a hard reach.

Michael Fassbender should be the next Bond and Hardy should be the next Bond villain. Written and Directed by Nolan.

I always have to laugh when I hear, "An invisible Car!! FFS  )"

Its quite a technologically feasible gadget. Q even explains the real life tech its based on. See the OLED screens in some Smartphones or the new ultra thin 50 incher OLED TV's. Next iteration of OLED tech is flexible. Car covered in that with small cameras dotted around car body work. OLED 'Paint' on one side of car displays what camera on other side of car 'See's'. Thus Invisible car.

40 years later there is still no way to fit a laser capable of cutting through the 2" steel of a Safe into a wrist watch. Now thats a ridiculous unrealistic Bond Gadget.

I always thought that Ralph Fiennes would have been perfect for the role of James Bond, he actually has a part in the next one but in his younger days he would have been perfect
