I have a problem with birds landing on my SKY dish and causing interference with my signal.

Are there any tricks or tips I can use to stop this from happeneing - or should this be happening at all? Should the dish not be bothered by birds at all?

My dishes are along edge of a shed room. Some one else's cat likes sleeping there.

I have also a Peanut feeder in the Garden. The birds find the bird table with oats and the peanut feeder much more intersting than the LNB arms near a large cat.

Yes. A big crow standing on arm in front of LNB will block the signal. Try providing nicer alternate perches. The birds also like my aerials and that does no harm.

Get an artificial bird of prey and stick it up near the dish, that'l keep em away.Even a lifesize picture will work.

Only works for a while. Otherwise someone would be selling vinyl stickon hawks for dishes.

    Mmm.

Real pain when this happens, but heres what I have done with success...

Get some Cable Tie wraps and stick then on the bar pointing upwards, cut at various lenghts etc, if any birds now do land on the bar they will leave immediately as it will stick up there **** hehe

Get a tube of Industrial Grease and spread it thick along the LNB arm and along the top of the dish that should do the trick.

Not sure how much space you have in your garden, but these seem to be quite popular down the country. Maybe a smaller version would work as well....wait a minute that's just given me an idea. I could flog these on line! Could even do miniature ones for people in appartments.

Thanks all - I like the idea of the cable tie's pointing upwards, thats a great idea. That and the greese should do the job.

Grease will attract dirt and sh1t over time. It may also be harmful to our feathered friends - especially when the adult bird returns to the nest and contaminates the young nestlings in the springtime/early summer.

The cable tie solution is probably a better idea. I've a similar problem with the kids swings - pigeon crap everywhere every morning. I'll get some cable ties and see if that deters them.

trust me the cable ties will work a treat, simply point them upwards and cut them at different lenghts....not too long just long enough to make a sharp end...done it lots of times in houses near a lot of trees...never got a callback due to birds after doing this...
