I feel there needs to be a wider variety of runnind shops in ireland, or at least sports shop assitants that know what they are talking about when buying training shoes.
I have bought way too many shoes that didn't suit my feet, what can be done?
I know arrnotts do some stuff, and there is runways and john buckley sports, and a place i think called sportsworld somewhere in dublin but thats it.

Yeh, there is a handful, but they all contain pretty much the same stock, and it is very hard to get specialist spikes for high jump, long jump, shot etc.
Anyone know where to get specialist spikes in ireland/ leinster

Although it's not in Leinster, The Edge in Cork does spikes. I'm also sure that all the shops you listed would be able to get the specialist spikes you require as an order - I don't think the demand would be there to stock those types of spikes...

The Colonel's correct I think. The stockholding costs for specialist footwear (which you are never guaranteed to sell) are enormous. Factor in that many athletes will go to the top internet sellers (Bourne Sports etc) and there isn't a lot of incentive for Irish retailers to hold stocks.

Best place I came across for spike knowledge etc is Mick Dowling's Sportsworld in Terenure.

ok i see where you are coming from, i was looking around and i think specialist spikes in ireland are around €120 up where you can buy from start fitness uk for around £40 and only £20 p&p, but see my problem is the size, and being able to try one on before i buy, as if it is not the right size you have to pay the shipping yourself back to them

Here's a suggestion from left field. If you send these guys a tracing of your feet they will supply to the correct size. Give them a call maybe. We recommend them to athletes/runners here in Jersey when they can't source locally.

I'm sure it's out there somewhere but what is missing is a callibration chart, starting at brand level and then including models.
Personally I'm a UK 10 and find NB and Ascis fit perfect, Brooks and Nike are a little big and Adidas a little small.
