Hey guys, just wondering, is there a fast way to back up your dvd collection to hard drive..? I'm trying CloneDVD at the moment(tried a few others too), but it's taking friggin' ages! I've about 100+ Dvd's and it'll be weeks at this rate.. So, Am I in for the long haul, or am I doing it the stupid way? :pac:

    Define "friggin' ages" ?

It takes my simple 2 core set-up around 10-15mins for an uncompressed movie only back-up

Well my definition of 'friggin ages' would be about 20+ mins a dvd :p but that would still take more than a full day to do them all :) I've an Intel core 2 quad 2.5 GHz (4GB RAM) wouldn't of thought It'd take that long for one disk though,

It does take a while. I started mine late '07 with around 200 films & hundreds of dvd's with episodic tv content. Some days I did nothing, other days I did a few films. Doing the films isnt so bad, but when its episodic stuff the repetition drives you NUTS. I ripped each episode (usually four on a disc), made a directory for it, ran it through Video Redo Plus ad infinitum. Took well over a year from start to finish - but I use it nearly EVERY single night. Well worth the time spent.

Its just the kind of thing you either write a day or two off to do, or else you just get started and then every time you walk by you swap a disk, and keep going, over time you get there.

You could use more PC's or add an additional drive (if possible) to speed up the process so you do more than 1 disk at a time.

Oh and you think this is slow, wait till you want to back-up a bluray 20-50GB vs 4-8GB... :pac:
