Hi all

Probably been asked a million times but here goes, my daughter has never been able to get a grant even though she has lived away from home and attended college since she was 18 because she is under 23 and her dad and I have been means tested and were above the combined salary limit of 45k or ehatever it is I forget - just. Its tough because she is working part time and paying her own bills and rent etc with ocassionaly help from us - with registration fees etc.

Now she has applied for her masters course is there anyway at all we can get any kind of financial help with a grant or is it the same criteria as per usual. She is 21 since June.

Moving to the Student Finances board as it's not a UL-specific issue or question; in any case you'll get a better answer there.

Would be the same criteria but check the numbers carefully, also check the income limits as they can change from year to year: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/education/third-level-education/fees-and-supports-for-third-level-education/maintenance_grant_schemes_for_students_on_third_level_courses

Also keep in mind that if there's another 'child' in the following courses (or yourself or your husband) that the income limit increases:


* Full-time third-level courses
* Recognised PLC courses, student nurse training or student Garda training
* Fáilte Ireland courses of at least one year's duration
* Full-time Teagasc courses in agricultural colleges
* Recognised full-time further education courses of at least one year's duration in Northern Ireland
