    All,

    I've a bit of a problem.

I started the couch to 5k properly over two weeks ago. Tomorrow I start the first day of week three.
Now the good news is that I've already started to lose cms/inches in various places on my body and my legs have started to get a bit of definition.
Bad news is I've gain over half a stone since I started and I now exceed the maximum weight restriction on my treadmill.

Do I continue on the treadmill regardless?

How much over the maximum are you? I should imagine a few pounds won't matter too much.

    At the minute about 4lbs.
I just don't want to make sh*t of the treadmill or give myself an excuse not to get on it to continue the program!!

I wouldn't worry about it, they usually under estimate things like that anyway. You'll probably start losing it again soon anyway.

I hope so, its depressing to see the scales going the wrong way when you've made the effort to exercise.

Muscle is 3 times 'heavier' than fat. If you've gone from doing little/no exercise to running regularly you'll start to build muscle. The fact your measurements have gone down confirms this. You've probably lost a good bulk of fat and put on a little muscle. Have you changed your diet at all? Are you eating more? Eating better foods?

There is far too much emphasis put on what people read on the weighing scales. There is so much more to it than that. If you're looking to lose weight I'd recommend taking pictures of yourself and regularly taking measurements e.g on the same date every month. If you're a girl(which I'm assuming you are as I'm pretty sure I've seen you in the Ladies Lounge) measure yourself about 5 days or so after your period just to make sure there's no hormone related bloating etc the same with weighing yourself. If I'm monitoring my weight I wouldn't go near the scales the week before or during my period. There are too many variables on what can make your weight go up on the scales for you to worry too much about what it says on them.

Apart from being a chocoholic I do actually eat quite healthy - always have, I learnt to cook at an early age and just love coming home with a bag of fresh food and cooking it.
I live on stir fried veggies and meat, eat fruit daily, drink a lot of water and rarely have alcohol.
Not a big takeaway person, every now and again though I'll have a veg out night.

My problem is that I've had a desk job for the last 10 years and this is 10 years of weight gain from no exercise. I was skinny years ago as I was working in a hotel and was always on the move, since I got a desk job I just gradually gained about 5 stone!!

I'm 30 this November and I've my brothers wedding next year - its time to change before its too late!!

oh on your edited bit -

    yes I'm a girl :D

The OH says I'm losing weight, I'm just not seeing it yet.
Today was an eye opener for me when I checked and double checked the tape measure. I rarely check my legs, but a few months ago I bought custom made knee high boots and my calf measurement was 46cms today it was 44cms, so I knew something was happening.
I know that my stomach changes a lot with cycles & bloating and what not so I rarely trust that measurement, thats why I checked my legs!!
