Very basic laptop with Blu-Ray drive for ~€720?

    I've got a budget of ~€720 for a basic laptop with a blu-ray driver & HDMI out.

The laptop will be used for the intertubes, work (the usual stuff like MS Office etc), watching movies (including blu-ray, mostly through the HDMI output) and will have to be portable so no 17" desktop replacements, even though I doubt my budget includes them anyways.

i3 with 2GB of RAM would be very nice, I can upgrade RAM and hard drive later if my needs change. One with a high battery life is desirable, but from what I see it's usually only the six-cell batteries in the machines I desire which is unfortunate.

Any hints/model recommendations would be fantastic :)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002ZNC0VM/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

    15.6", i3-330M, Bluray, HDMI, £578.41 (free shipping).

Amazon adjust the price for Irish vat so it'll be a few quid more by the time you get to the checkout. Its not super portable but it'll do the job, I doubt you'll find a light 13"er with Bluray for your budget.

I've seen standard 15.4" Dell's and Acers in PC World for well under that price including Blu-ray - wouldn't hurt to have a look.

There are a few around, mainly Acers though. The Dell Studio's can be upgraded to a blu-ray drive for €99 but not via the website too.

I'll keep looking, the budget shouldn't be all that tight to be honest since you can pick up a basic laptop sans blu-ray for ~€500

basic laptops would hardly be able to cope with blu ray movies in the first place.

certainly not crap processors (which most 'basic' laptops got).

you would also need some decent graphics
