Ah now, you won't be rated by many here if you aren't using Titleist equipment ;) :pac:

Never used RAM Clubs myself but hey, if they are in your budget that's what matters isn't it :)

I have a set of Ram myself and they are good club to start off with. I am looking to change myself so will be looking to sell or more likely trade in at Mcguriks soon enough :)

I got a set of RAM for my birthday a few years back and they are terrible. Probably because they are oversize. I'm still using the same set of dunlops my grandfather was using over 20yrs ago :)

Not sure you'll have much luck with a trade in. There isn't much call for 2nd hand Ram clubs.

To the OP : Personally I'd recomend getting a second hand brand name like Taylormade, mizuno or ahem.... Titleist

McGuirks sell them at the moment so they cant be that bad, i would think it has a lot to do with the player and not the clubs:D

You already know more then what your letting on ;).

I think most beginner clubs you get or ask for will be over sized. I'm looking at getting a set of Mizuno or Titlist.

Well iv played a fair bit of pitch and putt, but will prob only use the clubs bout every three weeks so dont see the point in spending big money, its like when u watch other sports, often the fella with the fancy equipment whether boots r wha is ****e!!

Your spot on, don't go wasting money for the sake of it. If you have a Mcguirks shop near you then go in and tell them your budget and your a beginner, you'll probably end with a set of RAM or Spalding irons :)

I'm not a great golfer myself but i just want a change clubs now. I had a set of Graphite titleist that my friend uses and he loves them so much so he has had them re gripped twice and he can play as well.

Or enquire at your local Lidl/Aldi to find out when are they doing their clubs.

    /runs away from Golf regulars.

Recently got a set of MD Surefires --very happy with them, that said they have only been used on the range so far :)

How much if don't mind me asking or drop me PM and did you pick them up in Mcguirks?

My previous set of irons to my current ones were Ram forged (with small cavity).... real nice clubs from the early 90's I imagine, not that unlike the titleist 735CMs I have now. Tom Watson used to endorse (part own?) Ram. I'm sure they are a different outfit now and mostly only see them with budget or starter stuff?

if ur getting rams make sure you buy some TM or nike or titleist club covers
they're prob fine for high handicappers - e.g. anyone over 14 etc
at that level the club doesn't make much difference i believe
    maybe psychological
when i was playing off 18 and using my phil mickelson visualisation techniques i really think that i'd have achieved only a fraction of my successes with substandard clubs
its a bit hard pretending to be a pro like phil when your dusting off a ram at each teebox

    YOU PLAYED OFF 18!!!

Op i'd get a set of big Berta callaways second hand. Great starter irons.

I would recommend MD clubs over RAM. Better quality clubs for not much more of a price.

I had a set of Ram Accubars for the guts of 14 years (admittedly after the first 5 years my playing time went down to zero and only the odd bit now and then in recent years)

I found them a good solid set of clubs

I wouldn't use their woods but their irons are fine

I have a RAM driver which I actually really like, I got a an expensive replacement thinking it would be better but ended up returning it!!
