    Hi All
I finally did what I had threatened to do and installed ubuntu using the WIndows installer (Wubi)
Lovin the thing but one snag.... it wont allow me to install or update anything as it says I have no disk space.
When I boot into Windows (7) I have 16gb free and even within Ubuntu it shows me that amount free, yet still it tells me I have no free space.
Anyone able to help a confused noob?
Here's the disk usage form Ubuntu

and then the error I get

As far as I know WUBI sets up a "virtual hard-drive" on your computer when it installs Ubuntu. When you installed Ubuntu there might not have been enough space allocated to this "virtual hard-drive". The 16GB free space you have won't/can't be used by Ubuntu.

It's been a while since I used WUBI, mind. Installing Ubuntu normally gives you way better performance. :)

SO is there anyway I can allocate more space to Ubuntu or should I just start again?

I did a Google search and it seems like a pain. I'd say just starting again would be easiest! Assuming my diagnosis is correct; you might be as well of waiting for one of the more learned posters here to contribute! :D

    start again,
uninstall it via windoze add/remove programs

or as mentioned above, you'll get much better performance if you install it on its own partition, very easy to do, the installer is childs-play

Ok so. I'll try installing it on it's own partition. Any one know of a walkthrough for doing this. Never worked with partitions etc before

just follow the instructions, when you get to the partition part, you can move the slider from left to right to adjust the size, really simple,

or if you want to make the partition in 7 first, which imo is faster...

hit the windows start key: type: admin click admin tools> computer management
    then dbl click Disk managment
right click the c: in the box and shrink by whatever size you want,

when you go to install ubuntu then, youll see this "free space" 20gig or whatever partition,

eta: and just to note, your windows mbr will be replaced by grub bootloader now, grub will manage the dual boot, not windows, but you can revert back handy enough
