What about one of these bad boys?

Or would they make too much noise?

I always found them a nice looking dog.
They are very strong and a very keen sense of smell for fallen game.

Or am I watching too much TV :D

Funny you should start this thread. I'm looking around myself and came accross these last night, I reckon they'd make an interesting deer dog......

other than that who here uses labs and is there anyone in the country with a proven line of "deer dog" labs?

Where are you gonna find one of the deer's t-shirts to let the bloodhound have a sniff, so that it knows who it's supposed to track?

Seriously, though, my brother's mate has a bloodhound (as a pet, he's not a hunting man). Reckons there's only a couple of them in the country. It's a huge big dog, and slobbers all over the place.

With all the missing persons cases in this place you'd think the cops would have a few for tracking. I've always wanted a Bloodhound. Have a Vizsla in training atm though.

Can't remember where I heard/read it but I believe that within a pack of hounds there are only a couple of hounds (lead hounds) that actually have an effing clue what they are doing. ... any knowledge out there???

Once or twice spotted a lost hound along the road after a fox hunt,
these are probably not the american type southern hunting/correctional officer/banjo playing southern lynch type hound or are they?.....:o

I would agree on that, the pack instinct takes over.

We had Foxhounds lost from the hunt and wander into our yard more times.

did someone not have a link on here before to field sports britain where they did a piece on a bravarian hound or something like that? used for tracking deer? if the dog is as strong as the beer you could be onto a winner?

Love the Vizsla, fella up the road has a lovely dog, crossed it with yellow lab, was meant keep me a bitch but never did:mad: My old lurcher is pushing 11 so think this'll be her last season on the hill so might treat myself to a Vizsla soon :D Any pics of urs...?

Friend of mine has a lab springer cross, very steady, great nose, you can tell by just watching him if theres deer upwind !! I've seen him pull down fully grown red stag by the jewels, not pretty sight !!
