    Here you are.
A couple of notes on the files:
1.Kik and Snare trigger tracks are audio recordings of Ddrum triggers and are just clicks to use for triggering samples.
2.Guitar tracks are stereo files but should be used as a single mono guitar track (pan both to the same place or bus them). Left channel is sm57 and right channel is md421. Both mics are of the same performance on the same cab and should be blended to taste.

Post any questions and will try to answer them.

I only had an hour at lunch today to start this so it's only knocked out in about 45 minutes.
It's heading in the right direction I think.
Going to fill out the guitars tomorrow with a bit of amp farm on the DI tracks and who knows after that.
Great song to mix though, totally stuck in my head.

Tricky mixing your own stuff, here's my first stab at it...probably the first song I've fully mixed beyond a rough demo for writing/arrangement purposes. Really enjoyed the process, and glad to hear others are getting something out of it too!

    Mix pointers most welcome:

    Here's mix 2.
Still no automation on the mix, just basic balance of faders. Nearly there, another lunch time should do it.
Changed the slap on the vocals to a delay. Beefed up the guitars with some amp farm and some eleven on the DI tracks. Added some synths with Vacuum for the craic. They're fairly low in the mix.

Did a little mastering on the mix from last night:

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4444222/Eye%20for%20an%20Eye%20Mastered%20Mix.mp3

Much happier with this I think, it's tamed down a bit of the boominess in the mix, evening out the bass a bit.

Paul, interesting direction with the synths!

Yeah, just wanted to do something different with it but synths are REALLY not my thing in general.
Liking your snare and the general guitar sound.
Good song, it's nice to hear someone not hiding their accent on vocals.

Here's my first attempt at a master on this. I had the mix just the way I wanted, but if there's one sure way to make a mess of a mix it's to try mastering it when you don't know what you're doing.
    I was armed with an R-compressor, a Q10 and an L2..
I think the guitars are too overpowering in the chorus and it's killing the drum sound I was happy with. But here it is anyway.

Cheers for the tracks man been looking to mix something a little softer latley, any chance of getting the bass d.i? Was doing some pocketing last night and its a little hard to visually make out some transients on the miced bass track.

Good job on the drum editing btw didnt have to touch em

Good to see people enjoying this.
The bass is actually a DI. It was recorded to a track in my template that is named "bass amp".
It is going through Phoenix Audio DRS into Drawmer 1968.
This setup sounds better than a normal DI box and usually better than an amp.
I use an amp where a more aggressive bass sound is required.
The drawmer rounds out the sound a lot so that could be why you are finding the transients a bit hard to find.

I will do a proper mix of this when I get a chance.
The mix in the first post was done quickly at the end of a day of tracking.
I will try to listen to the other mixes posted tomorrow if I get a chance.

I think that's me finished on this.
I swapped the R-compressor for a C4, swapped the Q10 for a LinEQ and Swapped the L2 for an L3 in the master session.
Great fun to mix. Thanks again for making the files available.
