OK so I am only going into second year and I am already thinking of starting studying for it when I go back and I am worried of if I would fail it. Should I be worried in second year and be studying more. HELP ME

No, you should not bve worried... keep up with whay you do in class and you'll be fine... If you just revise what you do in class as part of your homework you'll be fine!! I've gotten through to my leaving just keeping up with what we were doing in class!!

are you serious? dude, chillax. youve got plenty of time, just keep up doing homework and revise what youve done in class!

Once you do your homework to the best of your ability and revise for class and Christmas/Summer tests properly you should be fine. Just focus on understanding and learning everything in 2nd year properly, that way in 3rd year you'll only have to revise it, not learn it all over again. That's plenty for second year, if you start doing too much in second year you'll only tire yourself out. Good luck, you'll be fine. :)

    1: It's summer
2: You're going into 2nd year and you're already thinking about study

Relax, enjoy the time you have! You could get all A's starting study in 3rd year never mind before 2nd.

You don't need to worry at all, its just very important to keep on top of things, do well in class tests, do your homework properly. Don't coast and then do it all in a mad flurry in third year like I did :P

Plus, when you get the exam papers it all really repeats its self year after year, so there's not much left that you have to know that you'll have never have seen before!! You'll be grand - i didnt do that much study for it and i did good!!

The JC is actually a walk in the park compared to what it is hyped up to be. Pay attention in class, do your homework and you won't have to study 'til Easter of 3rd year at the earliest.

Agree, the JC is waaaaaaaaaay over hyped. In fact, the JC is only there to decide what sort of classes you get into for your LC.

Basically, make sure you do your homework properly and pay a decent bit of attention in class and you will find by the time your JC does come around that you require very little study.

Although that said, the summer after you do your JC is the worst (As im finding out now.) its a painful 2 and ah half months wait until you find out how you did.

    This is true.

The JC exam is designed to make you pass if you make any sort of a realistic attempt. If you leave out questions or sections, of course you cannot get marks, but where you try an answer, even if only partly right, you will get marks.

The big mistake to avoid is to think the LC exam is designed the same way - it's not.

Wait til you see how people posting here on this forum do in their JC, they'll almost all do much better then they expected. It will be the same for your year. Don't worry.

You'll probably only believe me when you do it, but it's actually nothing. Don't be worried bout it, especially in the summer...

Says me who hasn't got his results yet... haha

I literally did not open a book for three years and got 6 Bs, 4 Cs and a D. If you do any bit of study at all I'd say you will do amazing. 2nd year is not the time to be worrying about it! Just do your homework and try to do well in your Christmas and Summer exams, that is if your aiming to do well in the JC. Your too young to be worrying about these pointless exams, go out and enjoy yourself. You have the two years of the leaving cert course ahead of you yet, which will take a lot out of you!

Junior Cert is just a warm up exam, it actually has very little significance.

The first thing my teachers told me when I went into 4th year was to forget about the Junior Cert it means nothing.

Especially if you haven't done any work for JC, as the LC courses are based on JC.
It means a fair bit more than nothing, though not as much as some like to think.

It means feck all tbh. Trial run for the LC really. First thing teachers will say in fifth year is that it didnt matter.

Just concentrate on maths and your languages. They are the ones that carry over.

You mean your teachers start teaching the basics of French/Geography/History/whatever again in 5th year?

No they don't, because the JC is the foundation for the LC. THAT is its value.

It is however, a very different exam, with an entirely different focus and anyone who thinks an A or B in JC will automatically translate to the same grade at Leaving needs to be shook up, hence, presumably, your teachers saying it 'didn't matter'.

Seriously its nothing to worry about. I didnt properly start revising until after my mocks and i got 4B's 5C's and a D and i was really happy. Do start early because it will help for 5th year. I got a B in HL Home Ec and throught out 5th year i got all Bs without doing anything all year, but that was just me. Enjoy 2nd year its the best year of secondary school
