Recommended beard trimmer?

I seem to have lost my beard trimmer while moving place and now my beard is growing too long to allow me to simply hope it'll show up somewhere. So, would anyone care to recommend a good value one I could pick up from Argos or somewhere?

    Thanks!

I have the older version of this and quite like it. The new one looks good too!

Thanks for the input. I went for a Philips in the end, one that has a little inbuilt vacuum to suck up all the cut hairs. I've only tried it once and it did let a fair few hairs escape but that may be because the hairs were quite long after it growing. Hopefully it'll be ok in normal usage.

Cianos, was this the trimmer you got? link How have you found it since? I have a remmington that's served me very well for over 4 years, though i've always wanted one that would suck up the hair as i went. The damn stuff can be such a pain to clean up sometimes!

    Hey,
Yep that's the one I got. I paid €40 for it  I've actually only used it once so far. The hoover didn't catch all the hairs but I'm hoping that's because I was cutting a good bit off my beard - going from almost a definite beard to stubble pretty much, so the cut hairs would be longer than the usual.

Even still, it did catch most of the hairs and while there were some hairs around the sink it wasn't nearly as much a job as my old trimmer.

I found the cut to be quite nice anyway, it felt a lot more even and the hairs were given a clean cut so while before with my old one my face would feel a bit coarse afterwards, it felt comfortable and soft after trimming with the Philips. This could just be down to the sharpness of the new blades, but I did find it easier to achieve an even trim and the 'contour hugging' part of the head is good for going around the jaw etc. One thing is it's bad for just under the nose, even on the lowest setting the blades can't reach in, because of the length of the 'brush', but that can be taken care of by pulling the brush off and just using the exposed blades.

I'll be trimming again in a day or two so I'll post back and let you know if the hoover does a better job!

Have you already used it? If so may not be able to return. I have a remington one my self, quite happy with it. Wahl also get very good reviews.

I have the Phillips one. Got it about 6 months ago after making ****e of my old Remington. It's an excellent trimmer. Head and shoulders above the remington. It's rechargeable too so saves a fortune on batteries. I'd say it catches close to 99% of the hairs. Gives a good even trim without having to go over the same area again and again. You can't go wrong for €35

I did have a phillips but found the accessories and add ons to flimsy and broke very easily.

I've been using the Philips one now for quite a bit. Overall I think it's a very good trimmer.

I found my old trimmer to leave a rough feeling on my face afterwards, whereas this seems to do the job without much hassle.

The settings are variable enough to let you get the hair length that you want.

The hoover action certainly catches most of the hairs - there are still rogue hairs that mess up the sink but not nearly as messy as from a trimmer without the feature.

One complaint would be the mechanism for adjusting the blade reach. It's positioned such that it's easy to go from number 3 to number 2 by accident while trimming, without realising it. Quite a few times I've been trimming at length 3, then I switch to length 2 by accident and end up having to redo the rest at length 2 so it's even.

But yeah, overall recommended. Good for the price.

I'm not actually sure what the model name is, it doesn't say it on the unit. Actually, just googled there and the model is QT4045
