Eutelsat w2 16e, can't find it - Help!!

Hi, Was wondering if someone could help me out. I can't seem to to find Eutelsat w2 at 16e. The setup is a single universal LNB on a 80cm dish. I can get Hotbird 13 and Astra 19 no problem. I thought there might have been an issue with obstruction initially but the fact I can get the two satellites either side probably rules this out. I am using an installer recommended Horizon Sat finder. I am thinking that maybe I need a larger dish! Any help would be great. Thanks for reading.

You most likely need a bigger dish.
16E is a very weak satellite to receive in Ireland and suffers rain fade.
19E and 13E are the two strongest satellites in the arc and can be picked up on a small dish ~50cm.
If you are trying to pick up 16e in todays rain you can forget about it,you wont get it on a 1m in this weather.
I have a 1m myself and 16E sometimes breaks up in bad weather.

You will definetly need a larger dish, I found it impossible to find with an 80cm dish, had to use a 1.2metre dish to get proper reception here in Limerick.

have you installed 16east recently as all the transponders changed on that position earlier this year. Theres a chance your meter may need an update. Plus i am finding this position very weak at times even in good weather (Especially the tring channels), which break up even on a 1.1m dish!

There should be a new satellite going there in the Autumn, so hopefully signals will be near normal.

I find it difficult to get in Galway on an 88 cm. This new sat in the Autumn sounds promising

I'm finding the same problem in Donegal.

Good to see it's not just me. 16E wasn't too bad until the bird failure earlier this year.

Hopefully the new bird isn't full of tight zonal beams!

80cm is too small for 16E.

I really dont know whats happening with this position. Now today in heavy rain all the digitalb (par one 11.658H) and Tring transponders are very strong.

11.658H ive no signal whats so ever.

3 days ago in sunny weather the tring transponder was on the marginal for signal breakup!!

They may have quite different efficiencies on transponders or aerial and switched transponders depending on who and where the coverage "needs" to be.

Try Radio Televizioni Shqiptar from Albania.

    12656.00 V -DVB-S (QPSK) - 4883 1/2 - TV Shqiptar

Can anyone get 11.658 H 27900 2/3 (Digitalb) transponder on W2M 16 east, Ive got zero here, even tweaking the motor east/west does nothing.

    Ive got a 1.1m dish.

Ive succesfully got the K1 beam on 1 west today, it wont hold though in rain im sure! All the TV 2 sport channels and TV2 HD Norway channels coming in breakup free. Its heavy cloud here as well!

Perhaps this should be moved to foreign satellite??
