    Hi everyone,

For my birthday I'm hoping that the bf will spring for a full valet inside and out for my car, it's an Alfa 156, I'd be hoping to end up with a pretty spotless car.

    Anyone got any recommendations?

I'm in Swords, so anywhere Northside would be ideal.

    Thanks :)

+1 They are regarded highly and do a great job, detailing is much more than valeting.

I use the Chrystal Clean guys in the Pavillion shopping centre. They're okay but you need to explain exactly what you want done. Like all of the valeting companies I've used in the past corners can get cut if you're not looking :)

hi , andy in detailer.ie does amazing work your car paint will look brand new . he now does mini details but as far as i know he does not do interiors .

if you are looking for the car to be done i can do it . i am in castleknock golf club and your bf can treat you to lunch in the golf club while the car is being done . the full valet is 80 euro and the car will be de-tard and waxed on the exterior and the carpets and seats will be washed along with everyting else . it takes around 2-3 hours to do . if your intrested send me a message :D

There is a huge difference between a guy using a bucket and brush outside and a hoover inside your car than getting a proper job done ;)

Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for, I'll probably go for the quick detail on the outside, and the full interior detail :)

The budget was about €200 and fits well. I'm a car slob, and occasionally have to drive colleagues in my car, so I want a really really good finish inside.

    Many thanks again :)

    You are very welcome
With the feedback they get here and on other forums I am 100% certain you will be amazed with the result.
Why not take a few pics before and after to show them here ??

The lads over at detailer.ie usually take pics of the cars they do, you should ask them to email you a copy.

You'd be surprised what you can achieve if you know what you're doing and willing to invest some time in it.
Normally bring my car to carwash, but have one of those brushes that clip onto garden hose with car shampoo reservoir.
Then polish with a bit of wax (remove tar with white spirit if need be).
Hoover inside and give it the once over with a Vax.
Does take a while, but the end result is every bit as good as a valet that would cost you E60 upwards.
So OP, get the BF to apply some elbowgrease!

    I dont need them
I was suggesting to the OP to do it to remind herself and show others here just what a difference it made ;)

Anyone that would even suggest using a brush on paintwork just proves to me what they know Think they know about cleaning a car PROPERLY
And on that note I would bet my bottom dollar that it would be anything but a good job.

    Brush = Swirlmarks & Scratches

Will do thanks, between dogs and my rubbish the inside of my car is a tip.

I'm really looking forward to having a lovely car, that I can happily offer anyone a lift in. I hoover it every month, and have tried to clean the seats with shampoo etc but now decided its time to get the professionals in :)

Have to say that any time I've posted here in motors you guys have been the height of helpfulness, lovely forum to engage in.

Are sure Detailer cleans the interior?

    Taken from their Website
    INTERIOR DETAIL
Our interior detail is as comprehensive as an exterior detail. Firstly, all matts will be hoovered and shampoo'd. Carpets and dash will be cleaned thouroughly and dressed with a natural look dressing. Leather will be given a two-stage treatment - firstly a cleaning agent will be used to take all the dirt/stains away, and then a conditioner will be applied to feed the leather and restore the factory softness.

If I owned a Ferrari/Bentley/Rolls Royce I might be inclined to agree and only ever have it cleaned by angels with mittens woven from the hair of fairies.
But if you own anything worth less than 40k I wouldn't be too worried, besides you'd have to scrub pretty hard before damaging the paintwork.
Herself drives a 00 which has been cleaned using a brush over the last 5 years and the silver metallic looks great. Any damage done was from previous owner and a lot of that has been taken care of with some vigorous T-cutting initially.
If you only ever cleaned it with a harsh shampoo and never waxed it afterwards, of course the paint would be in bits.
This car gets rinsed, washed and waxed. Every now and then the tar gets removed using white spirit and since our roads are forever getting fixed this is a real uphill battle, but made easier if the car has been waxed regularly.
Also, the above mentioned angel mittens, while kind to the paintwork are patently useless in shifting grass/muck/cowsh*t, so unless you only take your car out on a balmy Sunday afternoon for a gentle run down to the Chateu for tea and cucumber sandwiches you may be in trouble.

it is a proven fact that brushes destroy your paintwork

You'd be surprised how easy it is to damage paintwork.

For example, a 911 Turbo I had in recently. Needless to say, like most performance cars, only ever hand-washed, and waxed regularly.

You can see the swirls on the left, which dull the paint, and what it should look like on the right.

    Similar Porsche Boxster

The simple fact of the matter is that washing your car poorly can damage the paint pretty easily. It doesn't cost any extra to wash it properly, it's not really much more 'effort' either.

I know it's not a Porsche you have, but if you're spending the time washing it and waxing it, you might as well do it properly.

OK, point taken, what are your views on micro fibre mittens?

Microfibre washmitts are very safe, safer again if you use two buckets, one with a shampoo mix and one with plain water, dip the mitt into shampoo wash panel, dip into clear water, and repeat. This will help ensure that the scratche's endured during the wash process are kept to a minimum.

    Something like this:

    or this:

    should do the job.

I use the second one myself.

Something very similar looking to the second one for sale in Aldi.
