    Hi,
Just wondering has anyone got some ideas about a song for the first dance. Dont want a soppy slow song, prefer something with a bit of life in it, soppy makes me emotional and i prefer things to be lively. thanks.

Huey Louis and the news, 'Happy to be stuck with you'. Was at a wedding where this was played as the first song and it was fab.

Andy Williams - I love you baby
It starts off a bit slow but then gets faster and more upbeat.

As the tempo changes the rest of the guests can then join in

My sister-in-law used this for her first dance and it worked well

Alternatively, you should contact your band and get their opinion. They probably have a good mix of first dance songs to suit all couples

While I cannot recommend a good lively tune may I say that I have seen many a band die on stage by opening with slow numbers. You have got to grab the audiences attention and not lull them to sleep.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

dont do something 'youtubeish'. its supposed to be a special moment for you both so just be natural.

Personally, I cringe when I see my friends do their 'rehearsed' dance they have obviously learnt off. Its so fake, I cant even watch it..

How about "Got you Under My Skin" by Sinatra. Not too upbeat but not soppy and you could do a few turns and spins rather than just swaying without having a really "rehearsed" dance...
