The screen goes very dark in Dell XPS M1730

I bought it some time ago. The problem is that when i use Linux live cd or when i'm in BIOS mode (brightness is max) Dell works ok. for around 5 minutes and suddenly screen goes very dark. If i press Ctrl+Alt+Delete everything starts ok., but again after 2/3 min. screen goes very dark. Is it a problem with motherboard…

The graphic card seems to be working, cuz after 5/7 minutes you can hear the fan spinning or might it be because of heating (might it need more thermal paste )
