I'm assuming that by 'Customer Service', you mean some sort of helpdesk.
    If so.....

Primarily, they are looking for people with excellent problem solving ability (Tech skills). A confident, calm & polite manner is almost equally important (Soft skills).

The assessment can be anything from a technical test to ensure you know the computer basics, all the way up to a full role play scenario where they ask you to walk a customer through some steps to fix a problem. If it's the role play scenario; confidently walk the 'customer' through the steps, paying close attention to their responses so you can gauge their knowledge/ability...you don't want to be too technical, nor insult them by giving 'baby step' instructions etc.

Oh, and pay close attention to the name(s) of the interviewers and address them by name at least once...e,g. Thanks Paul....Yes John, I have those skills...etc. Listening skills are really important in Customer Service and they will pick up on that.

The thing to remember here is to present yourself as the sort of Customer Service Representative that you would like to speak to if you called for service. Confident, polite, patient, efficient, knowledgeable, trustworthy & pleasant to speak to.

Oh, and if you think the interview is scary, just wait until you talk to your first real customer. :D

Thats a great help thanks a lot!
It's a customer service representative position.
I was told that there will be a role play and test of computer skills. I have good computer skills, it's just the role play i'm worried about and if it gets too technical...
