so there's some roadworks going on at my road at the moment. they appear to be digging around the centre line the whole way down the road.

i'm not really around during the day when the works being done so i can't ask the guys doing it.

is there somewhere i can find out if this is eircom, ntl, etc?

    thanks

In Dublin, they are supposed to have a sign displaying who they are working on behalf of "Contractor Bloggs working behalf of A.Another utility" with a phone number displayed.

Having said that there is a well known contractor digging up North Wall Quay and New Wapping St. with no such signage displayed.

GMC or Sierra? They're the big 2 anyway. GMC tend to leave the roads in a right state although not so bad recently. Wapping street is a kip anyway :P

    OP try asking the neighbours?

you could ask the roads department in the local council, whoever was digging up the road may have had to apply for a road opening licence,
