Meh, like where the CV boot is on a Escort Mk3, right above the exhaust pipe so it melts.

Really ? Exhaust pipe is below the shafts on a Mark 3 Escort ? Presume you mean the bit going between the manifold and the centre box ?

I always liked the look of the Mark 3 Escort, as a young lad I was disgusted with the mark 4, almost bought a mark 3 as my first car, 5 door purple one with a whale tail :D (glad I didn't buy it now)

Yep, directly under the boot (well it is on the CVH engines). The boot on the Mk3 I'm restoring (link in my sig) is a melted mess! I'd say it's a worse situation on the turbo models!

    Murphyebass,
Did it happen from a leaking pollen filter?

Golfs mk4 gets the same thing but I think the ECU is somewhere sane on them.

cant remember where exactly. I was told where and was told it was fixed by the mechanic only for it to wrong again and flood! Traded it in to a garage very soon afterwards after I had dried it out AGAIN. Was delighted to get shot of it.

    Sickener.

I almost flooded the car myself. I was doing a job and was curious about what was under the pollen filter. Took it off, back on and didnt think about it. Then I heard something making a weird noise when the fan was on and I went back to filter to take out an old leaf from the fan. Turns out I had put the filter in badly anyway and in this rain I can tell you I would be fecked!

    Joys of motoring I suppose.
