    Hi all,

I've been using nimbus for the last 6 months and they are going well. Now i got orthotics in April because of lower leg pain ( they sorted it ).

Its now time to change and i am wondering should i stick with my nimbus or change to another Asics model such as Kayanos or 2150 ??

What are the difference in these and does having the orthotics placed in my runners have a baring on what i should buy.

Oh and now that i have the orthotics should i also get gait when i purchase ?

My nimbus have 400+ on them and 16 stone so on their way out so i'll purchase in the next few weeks.

Just a word of warning, Kayanos are for over pronoation whereas Nimbus are more neutral.

If the Nimbus and orthotics combination is working for you, I would stick with it.

I thought of that Kirby but i had cheap 1130 and they got me started, Nimbus got me to the half marathon and wondering so i need to change again to step up in mileage and time on my feet:confused::confused:

I don't mind changing brand etc, should i just go and buy another pair of nimbus or get the gait done to see is there actually something suited better to me.........thats the head scratching going on now !

I used to be a huge Asics fan but over the past few years I found they just weren't suiting my foot. Last pair I had was the Nimbus but for what's considered to be a neutral pair of runners, I found them quite rigid and heavy plus in standing, you could see how they rotated my foot onto the lateral side. Anyway, have recently gotten orthotics and they don't suit the Nimbus runners at all.... so I'm trying Brooks for the first time and absolutely love them.

Try loads of different neutral shoes (Kayano's aren't neutral) with the orthotics, don't stick with one brand just because you've been with that brand for years, doing that closed my mind off to a more comfortable shoe :-)

I think i might head up to runways and get the gait done.

I was given a pair of kayanos as a present so i can use them from everyday wear !

Rang runways and they were VERY helpful. Said to go for a neutral runner and i that as i have orthotics there is no need for gait to be done.

So i'll either stick with the nimbus or try a pair of brooks when i am getting new ones.

I have to say the guy on the phone was brillant and at no time tried to push the shop or any specific runner.......big thumbs up, gonna call in next week and geta pair of something new !

2150s are for over pronators too. I wouldn't use them without knowing for sure what way you pronate.

Yeah i think if its Asics Nimbus are the way to go and i'll try on the a neutral Brooks as well.

Yeah I have a pair of the Nimbus as well, very good shoe, just not right for me. Think they were runner's world editor's choice last year.
