Urgent playlist help PT7

I am doing a freelance session on PT7 HD tomorrow.
I have PT8 and have been familiarizing myself with playlists.
    The place tomorrow has PT7.
Do the playlists work in the same way?.
Can you swipe select a region from a playlist (in playlist view) and hit the "Arrow" or drag the selection to the active playlist to make a comp?

    Also OMF import.
I will be working from a template and will need to import OMFs.
Am I correct in doing it this way.
Open template> save as a new session> File - import session data and go to the OMF> import everything to new tracks then drag the regions to the correct tracks on the template then delete the tracks created by the OMF import?
I can't check the functionality of this because M Powered (that I have) doesn't do OMF (farkin Avid c*nts!!)

Any help appreciated. I am doing a sh1t load of voice overs and need to work fast.
    Thanks
    Michael

playlist lanes work exactly the same on 7.

comping is drag and drop to new track (unlike pt8 which works more like logic's comping)

you dont need to OMF from m-powered to hd. just use "import session data"

OMF is only for transfering between differant DAWs.

Not sure about the playlists, don't use them much.
But the omf import would work fine if you want to do it that way.
Alternatively on the import session data dialogue box, you can select which track you want to imported track to be on.
When you select the tracks to import it says 'new track' on the right by default but if you click on where it says 'new track' it opens a drop-down box and lets you select which track you want to put the imported audio on.
But this can mess with the IO a little bit in terms of bussing/routing etc unless you select which session data you wish to import from the incoming track using the 'select which session data to import' drop-down menu.
It would probably be safer to do it the way you you had planned.

    Thanks a mil for replying.
That's playlists sorted then. That would explain why there are 2 voiceover tracks in the template. One for recording and one for the comp.
I will be sent OMF from Final Cut and will need to import it into the template and send the video editors a bounced mix back.

    EDIT
Missed your post while replying to DT. Thanks goatboy. I am pretty much sorted then.
