    Try Paintbrush (free): http://paintbrush.en.softonic.com/mac

I haven't used it myself (I use Photoshop), so I can't vouch for it, but worth a look for free.

Not sure about MS Paint but I use Pixelmator. Not free but cheap compared to others.

    Also use ArtRage

But that one is more fun if you have a graphic tablet.

'AppleWorks' has a painting application thats similar to 'paint'. Appleworks is a suite of basic applications including a simple word processing app, a basic database, a vector drawing app and the painting app. Not sure if it's still available to buy. Previously it was known as 'Claris Works'. After Apple bailed the Co. out a couple of times back in the 90's they took them over and renamed the product 'AppleWorks' The most recent update that I'm aware of is version 6.2 and that was for Tiger! Can't be sure if it will run on an intel Mac, though if it's still supported by Apple there should be a universal edition.
    Hope this helps.

Appleworks is long gone. There is no universal version, but it supposedly runs okay under Rosetta. iWorks is its (eventual) replacement.
