    he's a choker
laid him a few times on betfair for wins,
will have a look at laying him if he gets short enough

Steve Stricker -7 after 11...........could equal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭bigtimecharlie

Stricker now -8 after 13, same score as Goydos had after 13.

123 players are even par or better. Course looks set up for scoring.

    Goydos won't win anyway.

this 59 is turning out be like a 63 or so in most courses.

weather you think he's a choker or not! Still only the fourth man on the USPGA to shoot 59 in a tournament. Fantastic play!

you don't say ,and sayin he won't win isn't exactly the shout of the week when you consider there's aroung 150 players chasing him on 1 of the easiest courses on tour and there's still 3 rounds to go,and also we all know it's very hard to follow a score like that with a similar low number

The day someone shoots 59 in a major is when I'll be gobsmacked.

Shoots 59 and only 1 shot clear.

    103 players under par.

Any time someone shoots a score like that, it's on a course that's giving up a lot of birdies. It's still an amazing feat as evidenced by the fact that he's only the fourth person to it on the pga tour. Chip Beck and David Duval both did it in Las Vegas(i think) on courses that are typically torn apart. From what I've read about Goydos's round, he holed a lot of long putts for his score too so it was obviously a round where everything went right and must have felt amazing to him. I like to watch him play personally. He has a quirky swing and is not a long hitter. If any one has read A Good Walked Spoiled, Goydos comes across as a very nice guy who's prepared to grind for every penny he earns. Fair play to him! Long way to go yet but hope he wins.

there are many players you could describe as chockers,he's not 1,he has a swing that's very natural and doesn't perform well under pressure normally,i accept that, however he's won twice(i think)on tour, hence he's not a chocker imo
an example of a chocker imo,Briany Baird gets the #1 vote

Justin Rose was a perennial choker, but seem to have gotten on top of hte mental side of his game

in fairness with JR it's his swing change as much as anything, i think the word Choker gets over used,i think most golfers in a given situation can be called a choker,Greg Norman in particular but he still won a lot of tourneys,

If you're going to talk about chokers, I think Lee Westwood's name has to be mentioned along the way.

    thank you :pac:

But in fairness he has choked a few times. Maybe not played badly but not up to his potential.

ffs lads, comeon, who hasn't, you don't fall from grace like he did when he went miles down in the world ranking only then to come back into the top5 in the world without bein solid, you lot must think it's easy to win a tour event with 150 odd pro's

Goydos is a rhythm player. Yesterday was a fine example of that. He bogeyed a hole on the back nine tonight and then he never looked comfortable. Tomorrow will be a hige test for him, one which I'd love to see him pass.
