Hi, trying to sell my car and having a lot of trouble moving it. Only have 2 people come to see it so far and said they would get back to me which didn't happen and it is expiring on carzone today.

All i got from carzone was scam emails which were ignored. It is high mileage and i think that might be putting people off. I have already dropped the price twice and dunno if i want to drop it anymore. I would like 3k minimum but am i been too optimistic? Bought it for 4,400 last year and have done about 12k miles on it since then. Timing belt was changed, has been serviced etc

Should i just leave the price as is and hope for a sale soon or just drop the price to the lowest figure i'll accept and ignore offers?

    What are your thoughts?

Also i know i should have tried selling the car before going ahead and buying an mx5 but i couldn't help myself:o

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    See link in sig.

All I know is I wouldn't pay 3.2k for a soon to be 10 year old A3 with only 6 months nct left. More realistic would be 2 to 2.5k imo.

Well it's 2950 now. I can't go much lower than that:(

Hi guys instead of start a new thread I am selling my car at the moment. Its a 2001 Skoda Fabia 1.4 petrol saloon. It has 133,000 miles nct'd until 10/2011. Any ideas what its value would be?. I have it up for 1400 at the mo.

Unfortunately a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

My sister only this week put her 2000 VW Lupo up for sale priced well below what others were asking for theirs. The car's bodywork was in below average condition for it's year but mechanically it was fine, had 4 new tyres, fresh NCT and taxed until next Feburary. Within 30 mins she had a call. The next day she had about 5 or 6 more calls and sold it to a girl who was the first to come view it.

There is an A3 similar to yours with only 77k miles on sale from a garage asking the same price. Considering it has alot less mileage, longer NCT, will have some sort of warranty and a buyer may knock a few more quid off the asking price, could you honestly see someone picking your car over this one?

I'm afraid if you cannot reduce the price further then you will be stuck with it.

If 2 people came to see it, why didn't you get it sold?

They didn't make an offer as were going to look at a few others first but they seemed to like it.

That audi is part of an auction and has been up on carzone for as long as mine. The auction would put people off. It was 3950 originally and hasn't sold either. Everytime i drop my price, they lower their price. It's like a competition:p Anyway, i'm going to stick with 2,950 as i think that is a good price and lower than many other prices online.

If they didn't make any offer something was wrong. Either with you or the car.

The fact they turned up shows the were a qualified prospect.

Well the first time, it was sitting for a while and wouldn't start so had to get the jump leads out:o Dunno what happened there but he liked the car i guess that might have put him off. Had started everytime since though. The second one was weird. They didn't seem that bothered about buying at all so may have just been wasting time. Anyway, hopefully will get a bit of interest now with the price drop. I'm not getting too worried yet.

just goes to show that a couple of quid is the difference between selling and not.

Yeah, the drop in the price definitely brought in more calls and this guy seemed to really like it. He did make a silly offer at first but managed to get that up to 2,800 which i'm happy with.

Funny how the ad only expired on carzone last night so perfect timing. Anyway, it was a relief to get rid even though i'll miss it. Letting a car go is a weird feeling as you spend so much time with it and maintaining it, it becomes part of you. Anyway, i have my new mx5 to care for now:)

Schoolboy error trying to sell a car and not even sure it will start when a buyer arrives - for a buyer this says a lot about the seller and by association the car. Well done though, I reckon you got more than it's generally worth there!

I know the car is sold (congrats, btw), but some/lots of users have sigs disabled. Better to give brief car details, or a link to your ad, in your OP.
