    Hey there,

    I have a Marshall Amp (AVT275x) that's broken (i think).

Not sure what exactly is wrong with it but what happened was that someone was messing around with the Amp & PA at practice, got the leads mixed up and he accidentally plugged the Amp's output into it's input, the amp lost power straight away and wont even turn on anymore. Just wondering if anyone can help?

    Cheers,
    Liam

Not on a forum we can't unless you got a bunch of detailed photos of the inside of you amp?
You really need to take the amp to a tech and then give "someone" a good slapping!!

Haha, it was actually our drummer. Drummers should just stick to their drums and leave the amps alone

You might have gotten lucky and just blown a fuse. Change the power lead and replace the fuse in the amp and see if that sorts it out.

Cheers, ill try that out and see if it works

right, so i opened up the amp last night. The fuse was definitely blown so i replaced it with a new one (exact same specs).
I then turned on the amp and the fan chip cards went on fire. I think i'm gonna have to bring it into a repair shop! Any one know of any decent places that fix amps?

    I'm sorry to hear that.
There was a reason that I suggested taking it straight to a tech...

    Where are you based?

Look up Martin Nolan, he's in Beaumont and is the main man for repairs in Dublin.

aw man, that transistor stuff, once its starts blowing fuses its just near impossible to ever get it working reliably again. only a select few ppl prob able to get it working again. Aladdin's amps the usual 1 i think of. but honestly i'd b lukin at a new amp coz transistor stuff just turns into a money pit once it starts causing trouble. best solution, insure ur friends life, then drop the amp on him from a high building, then buy a new amp with the claim. sorted!!

hmmm regardless of sonic qualities I'm calling BS on this particular SS myth

PCB based SS amps are no harder to work on than PCB based tube amps
I think this myth stems from older valve point to point wired amps being easier to work on

    You are correct sir!! :)

Problem is that most SS amp are almost as cheap to buy new as to repair.
Quality valve amps are still well above the "cost of repair vs new" argument.

Some of the new Bugera stuff is bringing valve amps into that territory though.

AVTs are well known for popping the output devices.
    Google TDA7293 Marshall.
Farnell.ie have them in stock, Unit Price: €7.11
(postage €7.50 on all orders of €35 or under)

    TDA7293V

Sup guys, thanks for your help on this. I ended up turning the AVT275 it into a 2x12 cab instead as i needed something smaller than my 4x12 to bring to gigs. It actually turned out pretty well.
