    Hi all

We are doing an offer at the moment (and for the rest of the summer realistically) for 12 hour studio sessions with an engineer for 100 euros.

Elektra is based above the Button Factory/Music Centre in Temple Bar. We are open 7 days a week and we do weekend deals as well.

    For more info contact:

    Will Kinsella
    Studio Manager

    00851000287
elektrastudios ( at ) gmail. com

(Please don't respond to this post via PM)

    Thanks

Note: Elektra is part of the Temple Lane Group (Sun, Apollo, Temple Lane Rehearsals and Grouse Lodge)

Graduate engineers. These guys have finished the course, have done loads of work and are pretty much flat out with sessions due to this offer we have going on so they know what they are at in terms of working this studio.

    Thanks for the reply

the one time I recorded there the "engineer" slept on the sofa for 6 hours.

Ok well I'm sorry it didn't work out for you on that occasion. You were probably with a student engineer at the time. I am promoting commercial sessions, not student projects. I only give sessions to guys who are good and have been putting the work in over the course of the past year. None of my engineers sleep on the job, thats for sure :)

Was in there last week with two guys. Shane and Shaun. Guys were top class, very professional, sound guys. We were well impressed with the quality got with everything. Would definitely recommend this offer.
Especially after we've been stung by loads of bad studios before.

Worked with Shaun also and Whitney. Was very happy with it also. Anyone who know Elektra from many years back, its a different studio now. The old one was a pretty basic studio above Sun Studios but its on the top floor of the Music Centre now where Apollo used to be. Dont know where Apollo is now tho lol. Anyway, alot better than the old Elektra so dont be put off if you were last there 8 years ago or so.

That sounds very reasonable, Fandango, at less than a tenner an hour. I`ve been asked by a lot of bands and songwriters about affordable studios, due to a thread I started in this forum. What gear do you have there, is there space and backline to record a full 4-piece or 5-piece band or do you record the band members individually? And do you have any samples of your recordings online? It`s a great offer and within the budget of a lot of acts who replied to my thread.

This offer is a steal IMHO.

Our band recently recorded a 4 track covers demo in Elektra and the lads were great, both Rob and Shaun are sound lads.

I hope to have the songs we recorded uploaded to a site before the weekend so I'll copy the link to this thread so people can make their own minds up on the quality if that helps!:D

Were a 5 piece and used their bass amp. Was a fender bassamp if memory serves me which i suppose isnt the best but certainly not the worst! Engineers knew what they were doing, mixed it well. For 100 bills you cant go wrong. Dont expect a mix thats good for radio but you could pay alot more for a demo of the same quality. I dont want to look like im pimping my band so ignore the band!!! But on our site is 2 songs done there. Songs are Hes Alive and Somewhere In The City. Can find them Here.

Indeed! Sure for not alot less you get maybe 5 hours in a rehersal studio!

That's great lads. Delighted to hear that people are getting results.

FAO Zendali: There's plenty of room for Backline alright. I know some of the lads have recorded live in there as well. Obviously vocals redone at the end.

Someone else asked about Apollo. It is now based above Sun in the Temple Lane building. Neve Console etc. I like that studio a lot I have to say

In fairness I will add that was about 8 years ago, but it did cost me 120 quid at the time. Glad to see the staff have changed and good reports are being made.

I know for a fact that it will end up costing more in the long run for mixing and mastering of the tunes. So this doesn't seem like a good deal unless thats included in the price.

    You and your ramblings again.

You expect a day's studio time with Engineer mixed and mastered all for a hundred squid? Pfft

Sorry mate but that's completely unrealistic. Mastering you can get done for 50 quid a track with a proper mastering engineer. You can get a mix from the lads but if you want a radio standard mix then you would probably have to get a full time mix engineer. These guys can cost 150-300 quid a track depending on who you go with. Mixing and mastering are crafts in themselves and are full time occupations. Necessary parts of the release process. No matter where you do your tracking, these steps are necessary if you want your stuff to sound polished for radio etc.

Never underestimate the unrealistic expectations of musicians. "What do you mean it's gonna cost me more than my monthly beer money allowance to record this demo? What a joke!"

That's a good deal you have going. I recorded there in 2002, nice studio and the engineer (a graduate) was spot on.

Cool. Glad it worked out dude.

Left a message on your phone today and would be interested in booking a few sessions in the studio based on all the good feedback from the guys.
Had a quick look on your my space site and it looks promising.

Shout me back when you have time.

    Cheers,
    Niall

I'm just saying i can go here and get a song recorded and a standard mix for 100 euro or i could go to my own shed with my gear or to any of my mates who know how to do the exact same thing and get a recording and a mix thats decent enough to slap on a radio.

Now i can't say anything about the quality coming out of elektra but all i know is that if you can get these offers around dublin and ireland why would people go to this studio to get the same quality?

Here is the purpose of a thread not to give your input and opinions on the subjects that are raised in the thread??

I was just saying that i could get the same quality as a professional studio at a cheaper price and get it mixed to a better quality.

As for mastering i know thats going to cost more than 100 quid i'm not thick.

Right. Record a song in a shed with a mate who "knows" and just "slap" it onto the radio. Simple! You must have hit after hit played on the radio then, yeah?

I dunno, maybe you live in Westmeath, your shed is Grouse Lodge and you're a close personal friend of John Leckie, but I'd be willing to bet you just haven't a clue what you're talking about.

Can't say I'm happy to see studio prices drop so low (and getting lower), but when it's this low and people still complain about costs...it's ridiculous.

No because I don't bother doing things for money I do them for the fun of it.

Check out a band called the psyches or starters from dublin or who else do i know that have recorded locally...RAN, soldiers take half, fustration, forced out. There are plenty of local bands that have recorded locally that have got studio and radio quality without needing knock off prices like what most studios charge.

    Your post is insane.

    12 hours for €100.

IF the grad was getting paid (which I assume he isn't) that's a grand total of 8.33 an hour!! What do you expect for 12 hours? Do you not think that after studying for 2 years plus the least thy deserve is a decent wage? Or will his landlord supply him a flat "for the fun of it"

I'm smelling troll here tbh. This is a great deal.

No not trolling i'm just saying that i think 100 is a rip off because i can get the same quality in a shed. End of argument if its going to cause so many people to get pissed off then ill keep my mouth shut on the subject.
