Great video Tony, I always had a question about dish alignments.

Why is the true reference for the angle of the dish always South? Like 28 deg East of due South? We usually always consider North as our true reference in compasses etc.?

Good question, its actually east or west of south at greenwich so you have to make a small adjustment to that figure in Ireland and a much bigger one if you live in the USA :-)

All geostationary satellites (satellites that remain in the same place relative to us) have to be in orbit directly above the equator as otherwise they would not be able to maintain the same speed as the earth rotates and therefore "appear" to remain stationary.

If you lived in the southern hemispehere then satellite positions would be desrcibed as being east or west of North at Greenwich.

So all fixed satellite dishes in the Northern hemisphere face south and all in the southern hemispehere face North.

If you live on the equator your dish points straight up in the air.

    Hope this makes sense

Get a sky box and valid subscription :)

Other methods are illegal and can't be discussed here and you still have to pay somebody. You'll also need a new receiver as Lidl ones can't do the illegal stuff

Get SKY:D You have a FTA system that will show unencrypted channels only. The amount of people that buy them expecting to get Sky is amazing. They're fine if you just want to view the free channels eg.BBC,ITV,CH4 etc. but if you want to view Sky channels the only way is to pay.
