Passivhaus Refurb Diaries

    Folks

Along the lines of the passivhaus diaries for Denby House, building.co.uk are running a new diary detailing the refurb of an old Edwardian house. It looks to be a terrace house from the pics - http://www.building.co.uk/technical/sustainability/passivhaus-refurb-diaries-part-2-the-airtightness-strategy/5002259.article

I've just had a quick look. I note it states using passivhaus principles rather than going for certification. Also they appear to be going for double glazed windows. Still there should be some good info in there as they go along.

No connection by the way, just interested in this whole area for my own self-build hopefully starting next Spring!

I've read on several occasions that a refurb (within reason i.e. not a refurb if you flatten it first) simply wouldn't satisfy the critera.

Alot of new build "passive houses" are built to passivhaus principles, and also wouldn't get certified.
