    Hi all,

well, results came out and I failed one. Since its my final year I was looking into having the exam recorrected. Under the examination guidlines booklet available on the UCC website it says,

    "20.1 Recheck of Examination Results

20.1.1 The re-check procedure, which involves confirmation by a second Internal Examiner, is designed to ensure that all elements submitted for assessment were considered and assessed, and that no errors occurred in the recording, collating, or combining of marks. The recheck also confirms that the summary mark as presented to the Examination Board was correct. The recheck does not involve reassessment of the examination paper(s) or other submitted material.

20.1.2 Students may formally request the Registrar and Senior Vice-President Academic in writing, within three weeks of the date of posting of examination results to students, to arrange a recheck of their examination results. Application forms for this purpose are available from the Student Records and Examinations Office and on www.ucc.ie/admin/registrar/examsrec/recheck.shtml "

Under section 20.1.2 I believe I would be able to get my exam recorrected.

Has anyone here gone through this process before? Any information would be great.

    Thanks
    UTS

If you read the 2 sections together, what the section you cited essentially provides is that if you find a computation error etc., or a failure to add in marks accumulated through continuous assessment, you can get leave to appeal.

The section you cited does not, I would imagine (or think from reading the article as a whole) give you permission to appeal the substance of your exam, if that's what you're getting at.

exactly - in a recheck they just check the maths - adding up marks from each question etc
