    Hi all,

I'm interested in starting a blog (along with 5 billion other people) and whilst I know how to set the blog up etc., I'm not quite sure how to go about making it visible to others in google searches etc. - can anyone help? I won't be able to pay you for your advice, but I will be able to give you a big 'thank you', which money just can't buy I'm sure you'll agree!

If you write good content and get a few people to link to it, then Google will crawl it and it will be found and displayed in search results.

Use a SEO plugin, such as All in One SEO Pack for Wordpress.

Spend an hour Googling SEO tips and you will get hundreds of good ideas.

If you are using Wordpress - under Settings: Privacy Settings make sure you select the option: I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers

just keep at it, hits will come naturally and google gives preference to older sites.

You can optimise keywords and such but that can only do so much.
Basically spread it by word of mouth or email, and if its good they'll forward it to their friends and so on
