Is there any way of getting HD quality broadcast without having to resort to Sky HD? There is a satellite positioned at the back of the house.

Will a HD set-top box do the trick? If so is there any you can recommend?

The search button is your friend.

Humax foxsat hd is probably the way to go.

Search for the big thread on that.

Also see the dreambox thread underneath this one.

It's freesat you are talking about by the way.

Freeview is what you get via an aerial in certain locations near the NI border at the moment but more widespead when they massively increase power in late 2012.

It's also widely available in Wexford and Wicklow and a few pockets of waterford and south Dublin from wales

BB covers all the bases there. The Humax device is basically a plug n play device with a very good interface. It also comes with a hard drive so you have a pvr function. Highly recommended.

Dreambox is the route to take if you are more technical. It is more configurable and you can pickup more channels beyond the standard Freesat package.

Cheers guys. Is this all I need? Is there any messing around with Satellite positions? I'm living in Cork.

No messing around needed. Freesat and Sky both use the same satellite for reception of HD.
