    Hey Folks,
I'm driving to Cork from Dublin C.C. planning on leaving around 4pm (after work). As Oxegen is on this weekend am I still best heading down the M8 or to divert? And if I need to direct which would be the best route??

If driving to Cork from Dublin then use the M8. Fairly obvious option I should think. Plus I think you may need to read the charter of this forum.

Just take M7 & M8 as normal, traffic at theses things are usually well managed, any tailbacks will only be in around Naas, but motorways should be clear, or no more congested then normal

If you're that worried, you could turn off the M7 at Portlaoise and take the N80/N52 north to the M6 near Kilbeggan (bypassing Tullamore en route).

It'll add 30 minutes plus to your journey and you'll have to pay an extra toll (€1.90?).

that'd add far more then an hour, dont do it - if you needed to avoid naas you could take M4 then get to M7 kilcock to newbridge, kilcock>Prospersous>newbridge
would be quicker, but theres no need WHATSOEVER

that toll is €2.90 aswell, which is a rip off as they go

You could try this as an alternative
    Cork - Waterford - NewRoss - Enniscorthy - Dublin

Its longer, takes about 4 hours, only sticky bit is between New Ross and Enniscorthy but I fnd it a nice drive. Waterford is bypassed (toll) and there are delays at New Ross at peak times.

Oh, well then you'll have to use completely different roads as all the suggestions given above are one-way

The M7-M8 route will be quickest whichever way you slice it I think

Seeing as the M 8 runs between Portlaoise and Cork we all assumed you were driving north not south.
