AFAIK legally they can't open until 10am, 11 on a Sunday.
Why not open a phone account with one of them?

There's nothing illegal about opening early, and many of them during Cheltenham (maybe other events too).

Its just not worth their while opening when there's nothing live to bet on.

Actually the openings times are set out in the licence which is displayed behind the counter in every shop, 10 am is the earliest opening times allowed, some shops may open slightly earlier during peak meeting times but they are breaking their licence by doing so.

Cheers. They definitely opened at 8am for Cheltenham 2 years ago. Know plenty who had to go in early for work

Yeah as I said, some may "flout the law" as not much would probably be said on the odd occassion, I'm sure the Gardai have much more to be doing than checking if betting shops are open before their regulated time, but as a general rule betting offices are not allowed to open before 10am...

6.30pm (Sunday 6pm) unless there's a late Irish meeting but you'd be hard pushed to get in the door at 6.25pm in most places.

Read the licence guys the bookies are legallyaloud open at 8am they dont open till 10am cause SIS dont start showing races till then. 11am on a Sunday. All bookies have to be closed by 6.30pm from Sep-April unless there is a Irish meeting at night eg Dundalk

You would want to be in by a quarter past 6 at the latest on weekdays though. They will shut after the last dog race on the afternoon card which will be 6.16 or 6.18. The staff get PAID until 6.30 so most will be shut just before 6.20 so they have time to cash up.
