We are tryng to get off blobs of filler, paint stains and also dried in masking tape that the painter stupidly left down on the marble floor, when he was finished painting the skirting boards.

Most of the masking tape has come up,but bits of it are stuck with sticky residue to the marble floor.

Whats the best product for cleaning marks and stains off of marble flooring.

I know that things like Cillit Bang and Cif are a no go for marble,so what can I use.

The masking tape and filler marks are absolutely bet into the floor.

    hi paddy,

i made the stupid mistake of not taking off the mask tape for a number of days - embarrassed to say it so no laughing!!!!

i found sugar soap in a bucket of hot water and a sponge with a little help from a scraper (or even finger nails on parts of the tiles) was the handiest way of getting it off. dampen the masking tape first and then try to peel it away. it is slow but effective.

sugar soap is amazing stuff for cleaning.

    Thankyou for that advice.

Excuse my potential dumbness here, but,is sugar soap ok and safe to use on a marble floor?

I'm not sure paddy. Can't imagine it doing any damage to it. Sorry, can't answer that.

Get some white spirits and dampen with a cloth and rub over masking tape...

I was told by a tile shop that white spirits can damage a marble floor though, that it can take the shine off it and you are left with dull spots on the marble floor.

Or is that just rubbish talk??
