here's the link you will see a post from darren from vf thats says all modems are unlocked he does however say that all models after the E220 are unlocked im not sure if they still lock the E220 modems i have the k3765 and it was unlocked hopefully your E220 is unlocked!!:D

as far as i can gather from the net other people that have the E220 with VF say they are not locked so you may be in luck :)

E220 are easy to unlock as the unlock code is written in the modem firmware. All you need to know is that its near the code 53642c00 in the firmware so try googling 53642c00 ;)

Edit> I was actually in the process of unlocking a vodafone E220 and I'm having trouble as I can't find that string in the firmware, hmmmmm very strange as I've unlocked loads of 3 E220's no problem. This vodafone E220 (direct from vodafone) seems to recognise a 3 SIM so I suspect it might not be locked, just need to take a walk with the laptop to try it.

did you try download the generic mobile connect software and use that instead of the vodafone software and if the modem is unlocked it will work that way or if its locked it will ask for unlock code just a tought as the vodafone software that comes on the modems does not allow you to use any other sim even if its unlocked..they should stop putting that software on their modems as it just complicates things..my o2 and 3 modem have the generic mobile connect software so both work great my vodafone modem wont work anymore dont know why!!
just unlocked my 3 modem yesterday from a free unlock software i found online just put in my imei number and it gave me the unlock code will check and see if it can unlock the E220:)

jay93, can you confirm that again. Mate has a spare K3715 from VF, I want to use that for three, possible?

if you look at that thread you will see on post number 13 that darren from vodafone confirms that all modems are sold unlocked just that the vodafone software wont allow you to use any other sim than a voda one ..you can however set up a manual dial up connection using the voda modem and it should work it did for me anyways..if the modem was the k3765 which is the one i currently am using i could have given you a link to a site that will get rid of the vodaofne software on the device and install the mobile partner software that works with all modem so you can see you signal data used etc..still tough setting it up through a dial connection should work no problem as confirmed by posts on the link above

Thanks, you guided me in the right direction. So, they're sort of softwarelocked then.
    Will change the dashboard software.
