3.25m would be the minimum lane width, but it could go lower, what is the context?

    Traffic management guidelines shouold help

There are some works taking place outside my apartment in Limerick city centre and they seem to be putting in bollards etc and widening the footpath slightly. I'm just wondering how far out can they go with the footpath? i.e. what is the minimum width that needs to be left for the two way street (it's a traffic bottleneck anyway, so anything that stops guys parking on the footpath and blocking the street, I'm in favour of).

It really depends on why they are doing it, if its to reduce speed they could theoretically take the lane width down to 2.75m or 5.5m overall .

The traffic management guidelines are more aspirational than hard and fast rules. In reality there is no maximum or minmum.
