I am entering into the taxi business or if thats what you wanna call it,

Iam just looking for some info without someone telling me to head onto the regulator site.......

    1) Does my car have to be only 3 years old or less? If so, is their any way around this cause my car just 5 year old and in great nick.

    2) Does tax change on the car with it now becoming a taxi?

Any help will be much appreciated thanks ;)

Don't forget the bad attitude, hatred towards other road users and halitosis.

    Don't forget insurance, that'll change I'm sure.
You're not using the car for social/domestic purposes anymore.

The car that you're putting a taxi plate on it has to be under 3 years old, this is also if you want to buy a complete taxi older than 3 years of age it cannot be done.

So in order for you to plate up a car as a taxi the car needs to be under 3 years of age.

When you have everything in order you need to bring all your taxi documents (tax clearance, taxi licence, ins certificate, log book) to your local tax office where they'll ask you to fill out a form to change the taxation class of your car, they'll take the log book from you and they'll send you out a new log book with the taxation classed changed from private to taxi.

A word of advice before you persue this further one friday or sat nite drive into town to get a feel off what your getting into.

Also you cannot buy saloon licences off the taxi regulator anymore, only through private individuals, so be carefull handing over large sums of money for a bit of paper.

But best of luck and come back and tell us about how your getting on in the job (no scarcasm intended)
