I'm studying for the driving theory test atm. I read through the book from the rsa and am now working on the cd rom. I was pretty surprised to see the some of the questions can be quite tough so i think it will take me a little longer to prepare for than i expected.
I was just wondering how long other people studied for the theory test before applying?

About 2 days before the test I started going through the CD. Read a bit of the book on the bus on the way home from college.

A friend told me to do the tests on the CD and keep doing them until you are getting 40/40 and then you are ready for the test because on the day you'll prob get one or two wrong due to nerves and hurrying through it. I started the book and the CD last November, i booked my test in January and sat it on the 02 March and i got 40/40. So give yourself as much time as possible and keep doing the tests on the CD and you'll have no problems.

I opened the book on the bus from stillorgan, put it away when i got into town and passed first go. But this was over 4 years ago before the test changed.

Did an hour or so the night before, ended up finishing the test in 5 minutes flat and passing with 37.

If you get the luck of the draw then you can pass with little or no study if you think you have a good grasps of the basics anyway. However you can get a few random type questions that can throw you, so it's safer to study up. Don't wait weeks, commit an hour an evening for a week or two and it should be plenty.

I passed mine with 36 I think. There were a couple of questions that caught me out completely (I know I was asked about the order of tightening wheel nuts for example, I hadn't seen that one before for whatever reason). There was also another question I still feel aggrieved over!

I was sitting outside the door for the leaving in 2009, and i spend about 2 days going over it... den i didn;t look at the book for ages... den the day of my test i spent the morning practicing tests on the CD rom (failed every one i practiced), and then i went in and got 40/40 in the real one... I still consider myself really lucky to have passed!!

Im doing lessons now, and the theory is alot easier thst the real thing... and I now alot of that stuff!!Round-a-bouts :mad::mad:! lol!!
