    Anybody watch this series.

I cant understand how they dont take the mechanic guys(ED China)labour costs into account when selling the cars on.

They buy a car for lets say £2k spend maybe £2500 to £5000 on tarting it up and fixing bits, and then sell it on for maybe £200 or £300 profit after the mechanic has spent maybe 40, 50, 60 or 80 hours(who knows but it has to be alot).

And then Mike(the gaffer) rubs his hands like he's just made the biggest deal of the financial world.

    ??????????????????

Yeah, I never have any idea about that. I love the show but I have to lol sometimes.
Often I think that the show is more about finding a good deal on a car you want to restore yourself.

Think it's geared towards people that like to restore cars as a hobby, something they'd work on a few hours every weekend and be happy to see it sold for a small profit after they've got their bit of enjoyment out of it, rather then it being all about the profit.

    +1

It's not meant to be a commercial venture as such.

I like the show but I can't stand Mike, he ruins it imo. Everything he says and does is just so fake, he dosen't add anything to the show. Better if they replaced him with someone else or just let Ed do the whole show!

Some examples of Edd China's usual "restoration" jobs.

I feel sorry for Ed, sitting in the workshop all day getting his hands dirty while all Mike does is get his hands greasy.

My Dad complained about not factoring in the labour costs the first time he saw it, lol.

The other thing is that Joe TV Watcher will not have access to all the tools and equipment that they do.

[old thread resurrection, given the new series out now]..

I'm feasting on this show lately (they're going through each episode in order at 3am nightly), great lazy watching. I think the show works as it is with Mike as a presenter and dealer. I remember the one car Edd bought and they lost a huge amount, so perhaps that's why he stays away from that:pac:

I wouldn't include the labour costs either. The main thing that people wouldn't have is the lift and access to paint spraying though.
