Can anyone recommend someone in Dublin for servicing Lexus cars. I have an 01 IS200 and don't want to pay main dealer prices to look after it. At the same time I would like to give it to someone who knows about Lexus and the (few) problems they can have.

Just wondering (as I'm in the same boat now) ... did you go with a Lexus Dealer ?
or did you find someone else?
And if so how did that work out?

A 01 IS200 is a very simple car to service, any independent garage will service it.

Better still, DIY it, there are ample videos on YouTube on how to change the oil/filters and check the brake pad wear (if the pads/discs are low, you can get any small garage to do this if your not confident)

    What about IS220D?

    I have an IS250.
    Trust me. I wouldn't be able :-)

I have a GS300 - basically the same engine setup - and it's really easy to service DIY.

The GS300 engine is nothing like the IS250 engine. The IS250 uses a V6 while the GS300 uses the 2JZ straight 6 thats beed around for donkeys years.

The older model IS used the 2.0 straight 6 which was reasonably similar to the GS's 3.0.

Well the Gs300 and the is250 engine are from the same family of GR-FE engines Toyota released around 05-06

The IS250 got the 4GR-FSE, with the GS getting the 3GR-FSE

98-05 GS300 uses the 3.0 2JZ-GE I6 (some JDM versions had the 2JZ-GTE, yum, yum)
    05-11 GS300 uses the 3.0 3GR-FSE V6 with that fancy direct injection.

    Was the mk1 IS not a V6?

    Yes it is. I'm talking Mk3 GS300 V6 3GR-FSE and the very similar IS250 4GR-FSE.

Nope, straight 6, just like a 3 series, the market they wanted to get in on :)

My apologies, I had it in my head that you had an older model GS.

I found a recommendation here for Niall in ISA Motors in Blackrock, and he did good work for me on my oul (2001) Lexus IS 200.
