is my new fav beauty product. Have a read. Deadly stuff altogether.

Im generally not one for buyin expensive lotions etc and have been reading loads about the benefits of extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil for awhile. Couldnt find coconut so started with olive which i liked. Eventually found coconut last night and its alot lighter.

Mixed it with sugar and did an all over scrub (skin felt deadly and really soft). Put it in my hair, left for 30mins,shampoo (no conditioner) didnt blowdry it and its lovely and shiney today and did facial (rubbed it in and put hot face cloth on it), makeup went on fab this mornin!

The more im reading about it the more i want to stock up in bulk and ditch all my cleansers and conditioner etc. Anyone else tried it and got good results?:)

Thats the mad thing...its so cheap. I found it in my local fruit and veg shop last night. Its only €1.60/bottle. It was hard and i thought it had gone off until i googled it. It solidifies at less than 78degrees. Stuck it in hte microwave and it turned to a clear liquid...oh and it doesnt smell of coconuts which is gas.

And you just put it on like a hair/face mask?
Love cheap beauty fixes-I still swear by my oats face mask-even tho its messy and makes me look like a crazy person for 20 mins :)

Definately gonna have a look around for this, would big supermarkets stock it do u think?

Yeh google a bit about it.You'll be amazed all the uses for it. I got it in my local fruit and veg shop, but i think Asian supermarkets will definitely have it.Not sure about tesco etc.
It has to be pure coconut or extra virgin...something to do with the way its processed is better. You dont need a microwave either. you can warm a solid bit between the palms of your hands aswell to melt it.

I have used it on my hair and yes it's great. However, I am can get spots from time to time and used it on my face once and had a massive out break. I would think it is only suitable for dry skin. Don't risk it if you get the odd spot. I really regretted it.

I too discovered coconut oil about a month ago. I buy it in the health food shop. Buy the virgin coconut oil as it has a coconut smell and is unrefined and is better. I have used the refined one too. I now use it in my cooking (supposed to be very healthy and help in weight loss), I use it as a hair mask ( put it in about 2 hours before I wash it). My hair has transformed in the last month from being dry and frizzy to being silky and shiny. I also use a tiny bit every day in the ends of my hair as a serum. I have stopped buying salon brand shamppoos and conditioners and now use this instead with cheaper brands poo and cond.. Great stuff altogehter.
I also use it as a make up remover every night. Gets off mascara no problem. I cleanse afterwards with a hot towel and moisturise with my normal moisturiser and my face is so smooth. I also use it on wet skin after a shower to lock in the moisture and the KP on the backs of my arms has disappeared. I cant say enough about this stuff really. It has so many uses and its a natural product with no chemicals. Go out and buy it you wont regret it.

My bottle says "pure coconut oil". Is that the same thing?

That is what i tried first and is also good but is refined as there is no smell from it. Next time you are buying get it in the health food shop. It should say organic virgin coconut oil. It will have a distinct coconut smell and is supposed to be better as it is purer. I got the brand 'Biona' and it was only around a fiver for a 250ml glass jar of it

I really want to try the coconut oil as its way cheaper and i love the smell of coconuts:D Is there anywhere in Dublin city centre I can get it or anywhere in the Wexford area??
