You'll need to tell us a little more about your sporting CV and what distance triathlons you're interested in to get the best advice.

...having said that I certainly believe that weight training has a part to play in triathlon training. My only personal knowledge comes from the running angle, but I'm a certain convert to the benefits of strength training for endurance events.

Tell us more and we might be able to point in the right direction.

Can i do strength training and core work at the moment and still train for a sprint triathlon which is coming up in a months time??

im confident i can complete the sprint tri as i have being keeping the training tipping over since the middle of may. However , i have lost a significant amount of weight and probably strength and muscle as well so im looking to get a bit of strength back.

would lifting the weights at this stage be counterproductive?
