This event is taking place on saturday coming 30/07/2011.
Just signed up for it this evening before having read it is tougher than BoTE. Noty sure it was a good idea:rolleyes:
Anyway, will see for myself on Saturday..It's part of my training plan for Galway 70.3.

This does not seem a very popular Olympic, no post:(
May be i am the only one doing it.. perfect opportunity for me to be first finisher first time in my life...and last at the same time:)

Very apprehentious about the swim as i have recently been suffering of calves cramps after 1000m. Both calves went during Athy tri swim, and cycle/run were no fun. Could hardly walk to 3 days.

Anyway, I am off to Rostrevor this morning and will report later on.

Just back home from Rostrevor. A long drive from Dublin, 250kms, 1h30min each way.

The race was very well organised and marshalled (tough can't comment about drafting as i am never at the front:)). Good briefing from Race Director and from a TI representative.

    Swim:
Water was a bit choppy but in a nice way. Start/Finish from a jetty, triangle course. Swim finish approx 250-300m from T1 with run on pavement. Pavement had been brushed, so not pb with glass/stones. Involved road crossing, but very safe though as police was there to stop traffic while competitors were given priority.

Slight cramp developped in righ calf not even half way, so resorted to not kicking or very gently, focusing on relaxing the leg muscles. But no major pb and enjoyed it in 32min which is good for me, happy to be below 35min.

    Cycle:
Very scenic course, with long climb to top of the mourne, followed by a serious downhill. Broke my speed record on bike but reaching 74.7kmph!
Well marshalled and also few policemen at critical junctions to stop traffic.
Approx 25kmph average, 1h34min (compared to 1h22min with busted calves in Athy).

    Run:
3 laps in a park, with 2 main hills. While I generally do not like laps, i must admit it actually worked well. It is easier to count laps than kms. Again, loads of marshalls along the way for direction and one water station with small bottles. Run was a mixed of gravel path/tarmac/grass.
    Went around in 53min

    Finish: 3h03min
Just at the top of a small grass hill overlooking Carlingford lough, very nice on a sunny day like today. Water/BMP Energy drink "Berry Red"/bananas available just passed the finish.
They had also set up a marquis for sandwiches/coffee/etc...

    Goody bag:
I usually don't really mind what's in it, but here it is for the goody bag fanatics:
    - a bar
    - a belt
    - a hi-viz orange tech t-shirt.
    - £10 voucher in Decathlon Belfast by spending at least £30
    - flyers

    Will i do it again?
Absolutely .... if i did not have to drive 250kms.
