    Hi,

firstly if this is in the wrong place,

a neighbour of mine passed away about two and a half years ago, we went to visit his grave today and he has no head stone, we know he didn't know his family well and we think they're not going to get him a headstone.

he was like a grandfather to a few of us and we want to get him a headstone but we're all 20, in college or unemployed and were wondering was there a state body or something we could do for it...

currently he has a rotting wooden cross and everyone deserves a headstone...

I don't think there is. If he's someone that you care about but you cannot afford a headstone for him, what about getting a stone and shaping and carving it yourself? It doesn't have to be expensive or professionally done, it'll add a nice personal touch.

I'd check with the cemetery body first before erecting any permanent structure since some charge a fee for the rights to do so.

That being said in the cemetery our wee one is buried a lot of people make temporary surrounds using decking planks, additionally one or two have placed more sturdy wooden crosses they have had fashioned themselves.

    Either way check first.
