KAMP-EASI MOTORHOMES CAMPERVAN RENTAL

I have decided to post this to warn people and hope that nobody has the same experience as me. I planned a holiday around Ireland recently and googled for camper van rentals and came across what looked like a good deal with Kamp-Easi Motorhomes in Dublin. I gave them €250 as booking deposit at there request. They were also looking for €1600 damage deposit but thankfully I refused until the proposed collection date.

Anyway in the meantime,2 month ago They contacted me to say there was an arson attack on there premises and that they had no campervan for me anymore. They assured me my refund would be processed immediately. I got talking to people in other firms as I had to book another campervan, and plenty of people in the business have called them crooks and claim that this was infact a big inside insurance job. After two weeks I rang and they had some excuse about the system being down and this carried on for weeks and to this day I have not got the refund and they are not answering to me or replyin to mails..so KAMP-EASI MOTORHOMES HAVE STOLEN FROM ME effectively. And I am helpless to get it back, the guards say theres nothinh I can do. Unless anyone has any advice?

I am raging at how ive been taken advantage of and how helpless I now am trying in vein to get my money back.

So please please do not book anything with these thiefs!!

    Hi there

I also booked a campervan with them for the Electric Picnic festival in September. I received an email yesterday saying that they had had a fire and most of the fleet was destroyed. However they said the fire was in early June - which doesn't tally with what they told you. You said they contacted you 2 months ago? Something doesn't add up here.

Luckily I didn't pay a deposit. At the time they said it wasn't necessary because the Electric Picnic weekend is so easy to get bookings for.

I thought it was the end of May they rang me, perhaps it was early June. It was on the news im sure you can google the paper report of the "arson attack" / Insurance job. Im sure thats why they werent pushing you for a deposit because they knew that there would be no van for you after their planned insurance job was completed. i am sure my €250 deposit, plus others who paid it, was only a bonus for them on top of the insurance claim. Either way they are keeping my deposit and not returning my calls or emails.

You say you received an email only last week from them about your cancellation, who emailed you was it Carla??or what was the email address because nobody is replying to me but maybe if i mail to the address you got one off somebody might get back to me.

I paid by credit card. They have been stalling me for the last 6 week now saying that I will get the refund soon, and now this morning their website i closed as they have stopped trading

    http://www.kamp-easimotorhomes.com/

I presume I am now jut one of their debtors and may as well forget it!??

Does anyone know of anything I can do?

I live near where their depot used to be, always look in because we looked at a few campers there when we were looking to buy one. No sign of fire at that premises, it has been taken over by another car sales operation a couple of months back, I presumed they had just gone out of business. Sorry for your troubles.

It was Carla who contacted me - carla@kamp-easimotorhomes.com. That's the only email address I have for them.

There was a fire there (whether arson or not), a friend of mine drove out and took a photo in early July when I first received the email. There are numerous burnt out campervans in the picture.

You could maybe ask your bank about doing a charge back on your credit card? I don't know how this works or if it might be too late now, but worth calling them to ask.

Contact your credit card provider. They should be able to initiate a chargeback against the company and you may get your money back.

I booked and paid with them for Glastonbury and they honoured my booking through Celtic camervans on the Old Ashbourne Road, I am fairly sure though that he was not paid in turn by Kamp Easi as he could not make any contact with them for a couple of weeks. Not 100% on this as I havent spoke to him since returning the campervan in late June. The guy in Celtic (Steven) was very helpfull even though I think he suspected there would be a problem getting paid from Kamp easi. The fire was genuine though , it was reported on the radio and newspapers
